Michael Richard "Mike" Pence (born June 7, 1959) is an American politician and attorney who has been serving as the 50th Governor of Indiana since 2013. A member of the Republican Party, he previously represented Indiana's 2nd congressional district and Indiana's 6th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 2001 to 2013 and served as Chairman of the House Republican Conference from 2009 to 2011. Pence is a conservative and a longtime supporter of the Tea Party movement. On July 15, 2016, Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he had selected Pence as his running mate in the 2016 presidential election.
