Venezuela's opposition blames Maduro for the economic crisis, which led to shortage of food and essentials in the country.
"We filed a formal request for collection of 20 percent of signatures to the National Electoral Council, the recall referendum is on its way, it is backed by the Venezuelan people," Florido said in his Twitter account.
On Monday, the National Electoral Council confirmed that Venezuelan opposition has collected the sufficient number of signatures amounting to over one percent of voters in each state to move to the second stage. On the second stage 20 percent of Venezuelan voters should sign the petition in a bid to hold referendum.
