Police are carrying out a major operation near the shopping center, the Bild newspaper reported.
According to the Abendzeitung Muenchen newspaper, the police were notified of the events at 15:52 GMT.
Police confirm that people were killed, but do not specify the number of victims.
Police of Olympia Park Station in Munich told Sputnik Friday they did not have any information on victims of a shooting that took place in a shopping center in the German city.
"We are receiving calls confirming that there were shooting in the shopping mall but we don’t have information on victims," the police said.
According to police sources, the perpetrator of the shooting spree at the shooping center in Munich may still be inside the building.
Representative of police said that shooting could've been carried out by several perpetrators.
Munich police is currently conducting a major operation in the vicinity of the shopping center where the shooting took place, and requests citizens to avoid that area. Police special forces arrive at the scene.
