Developments in the realm of international relations significantly impact national and security interests of countries throughout the world. Therefore, scholarly analysis of issues related to foreign policy and international politics and interaction among research institutes and foreign policy think tanks are of uttermost importance. The Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) was founded in 1983 in Tehran as the main think thank of Iranian Foreign Ministry with the task of leading and encouraging the study and research on issues relevant to the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and to provide the Iranian foreign policy decision making establishment with analytical reports and policy papers.
Over 30 years since its foundation, the IPIS has successfully established a position among prominent regional and international research institutes and forged extensive cooperation ties with several counterparts inside and outside the country.
